Hello! I was away for awhile visiting friends and family abroad (Scotland, England, Italy, Sicily), but now I am back and here are some (.05%) of the photos I took:

TUNE OF POSSIBLE CLONE

In this project (BEING MOUNTED/ CROSSING OVER) there are going to be 100 sets, and each set

will have a poem, pic, and tune (yes yes i know they are technically not 'tunes').

My last semester of college (MY LAST ROAR OVER) I studied rituals from all around the world involving music and trance. I am a bit obsessed with world music, specifically Malagasy, so that is probably what sparked my interest.

For my thesis...I wrote a paper yes, but I also created original poems, images, and musical pieces that attempted to create a new civilization, myth and history. The crazy made up Lipari history in my head.

I will probably only be posting the images here and maybe some more music, but the poems I feel weird posting. I don't know why. I will get back to you on that...

But for now, here is one real deal. A real set. An imusem.

Here is some music I made from my project this summer. Went with 'The Entrepreneur' character. I played this pre-recorded music (a valiha solo and me and my friends from Berlin laughing), and performed a little dance using only Special Opps hand signals!

Berlin Project

These images come from the project i did in Berlin. It was a solo performance where i played these 5 different characters. That was quite a challenge...

I made a little space and had these posted on the wall where i performed. I kind of used the images as a reference/tarot card/ shrine sort of thing. It turned out better than i expected!

Hey everyone!

It has been too long! I will post some of the work i did over the summer very soon. I just have to make my way over to a larger scanner somehow...

'autobiography of red' project

In short, I took fragments of text from Anne Carson's 7 'photograph poems' that appear towards the end of her verse novel, Autobiography of Red, a book i adore. This is one of those cases where the scan and the original are very, very different...but i kind of like the way the scan made the angel look much more angelic (invisible). Apparently, grey ink doesn't show up very well :(

Old movies

I just realized I never posted the two films I made as final projects for school last semester. I had never done anything like this before!

The first was inspired by the last few moments of Hoffmann's fairytale "The Sandman," and is an experiment in synaesthesia. The second was a project I did for my Spanish Surrealism class...but I just kind of made what I wanted to.

I made them within a few weeks of one another in May of 2008. Did all the music, too. I won't say more than that, except that they are totally bananas/bonkers!

Oh and you have to crank up the music a bit on the Hoffmann one because I had no idea what i was doing:)

Hey everyone!

Bear with me here while I start up a new semester! There are definitely more cartoons to come. Maybe even some paintings....and some music....

Hello. My name is Paige, and this is where I'm going to post the stuff I'm making! I don't really want to say more than that. I really just want to make-scan-post-and walk away, and move on, and be like: take it bleh and run and run, but I guess I will tell you a teeny bit about myself first:

Hello. My name is Paige Lipari, and I've lived in Brooklyn for the last 5 and one half years. I love to read, watch films, and go to museums. Very much. I just recently got into cartooning about 4 months ago, so this is all very new to me. Right now, I go to Eugene Lang College where I am an Arts in Context major (whatever that means/ it means everything to me). Broccoli is really amazing. Okra is evil.

My plan is to work on something (painting, cartooning, something, etc.) everyday (!!!) and post it here. I will also be archiving some of the cartoons I've done over the past couple of months. My greatest hope is that this is a little spot where you come and visit once a trillion years and laugh a bit whether in uncomfortableness, or delight, or both.
